A trick for all Microsoft Certified Trainers (MCTs). Learning Download Manager (LDM) problems solved.

If you are a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT), this might sound familiar.

During my long career as a Microsoft Certified Trainer, I literally used the download center for trainer documents hundreds of times. However, downloading the teacher pdfs and course slides has always been a hassle.

More often than not I had to fight with the Learning Download Manager Tool LDM.exe. The tool is a proprietary download manager from Microsoft Learning and it saved me from many retries in the old days when I had to download entire virtual machine images for the trainings.

However, the world has changed. The internet has become much faster and there is no need to download vm images anymore. However, LDM is still the same tool than decades ago.

But today, I found a well hidden solution. Did you know that you can just enable the browser download option and download your course content like any other human being? Found it here (https://trainingsupport.microsoft.com/en-us/tcmct/forum/all/problem-for-download/d5f9ed0b-9313-4dea-a320-6737c498ace7), but here is how it works:

Log in to https://learningdownloadcenter.microsoft.com/ (as you always do) and hit the FAQ button:

Click the link to “enable browser download experience” under “How to enable the browser download experience?”

And that’s it folks. Just download your stuff as you usually do. The portal will not open LDM for download but just download the files in the browser. What a step into the future. You are welcome… đŸ™‚
